The PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. The PTA is a group of parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members who work together to support our students and strengthen our school.
At the national level, the PTA is part of the larger National PTA, an organization that has supported public education and child advocacy for more than a century. But here at our school, the PTA is simply local families and staff choosing to show up for kids.
The PTA exists because schools often need more than basic funding provides. Enrichment programs, family events, classroom support, staff appreciation, campus improvements. These things matter. The PTA helps make them happen.
More than anything, the PTA creates connection. It gives families a way to stay informed, have a voice, and be part of shaping the school experience.
Being a member of the PTA does not mean signing up for a long list of responsibilities.
Membership is free. There is no required time commitment. You can attend every meeting, one meeting, or no meetings at all. You can volunteer regularly, help once a year, or simply stay informed and vote when it works for you.
The PTA is intentionally flexible because families are busy. Some members like to be hands on. Others prefer to support quietly from the sidelines. Both are valuable. Both make a difference.
When more families are connected, schools are stronger. When more voices are at the table, decisions are better. When more people contribute, even in small ways, the impact adds up quickly.
Joining the PTA is one simple way to support your child’s school experience. Whether you give your time, your ideas, your financial support, or simply your membership, you are helping create opportunities for students.
You do not have to do everything. You just have to take one step.
Join the PTA. Stay connected. Be part of what makes our school better.
The PTA Board is the elected leadership team that helps guide the work of the PTA. While anyone can join the PTA as a member, the PTA Board is made up of individuals who step into specific roles to help organize meetings, manage finances, coordinate events, and keep everything running smoothly throughout the year.
Board members are elected each June and serve three year terms. Serving on the PTA Board is a bigger commitment than general membership, as board members attend both regular and executive meetings, help make planning decisions, and take on defined responsibilities within the organization.
Joining the PTA does not mean you are joining the Board. Most PTA members are not board members, and there is no expectation that you will serve on the Board just because you become a member.
If you are interested in taking a more active leadership role and helping shape the direction of the PTA, running for the Board may be a great fit. If you prefer to simply stay informed, volunteer occasionally, or support from the sidelines, that is equally welcome.
Both members and board leaders play important roles in supporting our school.
